Installing PicoHarp under modern Ubuntu with Wine

Version used: PicoHarp 300 v2.3

The udev rules that ship with the distribution were a bit out of date, so we use our own,

$ cat >99-picoquant.rules <<EOF
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0e0d", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0003", MODE="0666"
EOF
$ sudo mv 99-picoquant.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/
$ sudo chmod 644 /etc/udev/rules.d/99-picoquant.rules
$ sudo cp $CDROM/Linux/pquwstub.dll.so /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/wine/pquwstub.dll.so
$ sudo chmod ugo+rx /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/wine/pquwstub.dll.so
$ wine $CDROM/setup.exe

Finally, a script to easily start it,

$ cat >/usr/local/bin/picoharp <<EOF
#!/bin/bash
wine $HOME/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/PicoQuant/PicoHarp300v23/PicoHarp.exe
EOF
$ chmod ugo+rx /usr/local/bin/picoharp

To start,

$ picoharp
